How do I get an International Import Certificate ("IIC") in Canada?

1. Access the link above using Internet Explorer or Netscape (other browsers do not work).
2. Click “International Import Certificate” on the left navigation bar.
3. Click “Accept” to accept the Privacy Statement.
4. Select whether you are a Resident of Canada (Yes or No). You must be a resident.
5. Enter your name, primary address, and telephone number (using XXX-XXX-XXXX format) in the “Client Information” tab.
6. Enter your name, telephone number, and email address in the “Contact Information” tab.
7. Click the “Importer” tab at the top of the box.
8. Click the “Same As Applicant” checkbox to auto-fill the form with your data.
9. Click the “Exporter” tab at the top of the box.
10. Fill in with our information, as shown below:

11. Click the “End User” tab at the top of the box.
12. Under the “End Use” drop-down menu, select your end use (usually “Personal Use”).
13. Next to “For Use By,” select the “Importer” radio button.
14. Click the “Items” tab at the top of the box.
15. Under “Currency,” select “USD.”
16. Click the “Add Item” button to the right of the box.

17. Enter a Description, Quantity and Total Value (in USD) for the first item(s) (with description to
include barrel length, overall length, action, number of shots, caliber and type of ammunition,
identification of manufacturer, model, and country of manufacture). A serial number is not
required, but should be included if you know it at the time of application. (Note: if there is a scope mounted on your firearm, you must list that here, i.e. “…with mounted 3-9×40 optical scope”).
18. Click “Accept.”
19. To add additional items, click “Add Item” again and repeat the process in Step 17. (
Note: be sure to list all separate firearm, ammunition and accessory items that you plan to import.)
20. When all items are added, click the “Distribution” tab at the top of the box.
21. Next to “Deliver Documents To,” select “Applicant.”
22. Next to “Distribution Mechanism,” select “Surface Mail.”
23. Click “Submit” on the top right hand corner to submit your IIC application.

If you entered your email address, you should receive a digital PDF copy of your IIC in approximately 5-7 business days. As soon as you receive this, please verify that the information is correct and promptly forward it to us at the following email address: export@borderview.com.
